Conference Next generation MSCA: opening a new era for change

The conference will take place on May 23 and 24 2022 in Paris as part of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event will be livestreamed.

France took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) in January 2022. In this context, the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, is organising the Conference ‘MSCA 25 years: Next generation MSCA: opening a new era for changeon behalf of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Gender, academic freedom, green research, science and society

Through a series of presentations and debates, the event’s programme will address core issues linked to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). These include doctoral education, the international movement of researchers and the career development of researchers.

A series of parallel workshops will also analyse topics, such as

  • gender equality within MSCA and supporting the career development of female researchers
  • global solidarity in higher education and research: supporting academic freedom and academics at risk
  • closing the gap between research and citizens: building trust in science with MSCA
  • from intentions to actions: implementing the MSCA Green Charter in research projects

The conference will be an opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the MSCA programme and to consider how it can best support future generations of researchers.

Falling Walls Lab MSCA

The Conference will also host the MSCA Falling Wall Labs competition. Falling Walls Lab MSCA is a competition showcasing the quality, diversity and passion of the most innovative minds benefitting from the MSCA programme.

15 outstanding MSCA fellows will present their project, idea or breakthrough to the scientific community in 3 minutes and the jury, including researchers, academics and representatives from the European Commission and  Université Paris Science et Lettres.

The competition is organised independently by the European Commission and Université Paris Science et Lettres in conjunction with the Falling Walls Lab Foundation. It will take place in Paris and be broadcasted online.
