Chemistry meeting in summer 2025

The meeting of Nobel Laureates on chemistry will be held from 29 June to 4 July 2025.

About 600 young scientists from all over the world will get the chance to spend an inspiring week with Nobel Laureates to exchange experiences and establish valuable contacts.

Who can apply

The European Commission is offering a limited number of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellows the opportunity to participate to the event.

Selection criteria

The call for applications is open to both current (you should have commenced your fellowship by 1 September 2024) and past MSCA fellows, including master, doctoral students and young postdoctoral scientists, working in the areas of chemistry or related fields.

In addition to these criteria, the review panel of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings will select participants among the candidates using its own selection criteria.

Please make sure you comply with all the criteria before applying.

Secure your own funding

The MSCA are not offering travel or fee support for the event, merely the opportunity to attend.

Applicants must ensure that they have the funding necessary to meet their own share of the costs of the event. This will amount to €1.250, plus travel costs. Your organisation and/or your MSCA project must pay the related costs.

We recommend that you get a confirmation from your organisation that these costs will be met at the appropriate time (March/April 2025).

Should you be selected and not able to meet the participation costs, your place will be lost and no other MSCA fellow will be able to benefit from the opportunity.

How to apply

The application process to seek a nomination from MSCA to attend the Lindau meeting is a two-step procedure.

First stage

Submit the following information via the application form.

  1. We will need a limited amount of personal information. Please consult the privacy statement at the end of the form for more information.
  2. A statement of motivation (maximum 250 words) explaining briefly why you think participating will be beneficial for you, your research, your career, and your organisation (if relevant).
  3. An individual letter or letters of recommendation in English (roughly one A4 page each) in a PDF file, which should
    1. include a description of your achievements
    2. be written by a person who knows you well, e.g. supervisor of the Master or PhD thesis
  4. Your recent CV (maximum 4 pages) in a PDF file.

Send all parts of your application to the European Commission by Monday 30 September 2024 13:00, CEST, via the dedicated form. For any questions, please write to EAC-MSCA-LINDAU@ec.europa.eu.

The European Commission will make recommendations to the Lindau Selection Committee around mid-October 2024.

Second stage

The Lindau Selection Committee will ask candidates who are supported by the European Commission to complete their profiles by the end of November 2024.

The Committee will take final selection decisions by mid-March 2025, allowing sufficient time for travel arrangements to be made.
