The Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation has opened a new round of the call “TRAPEZIO – Paving the way to research excellence and talent attraction” to support MSCA Seal of Excellence recipients who applied for MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship under Horizon Europe.

The deadline for applications is 31 May 2024.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to MSCA Seal of Excellence holders, offering them the opportunity to develop their research project at a host institution in Piedmont or Liguria, even if the original application had to take place in another region or host country.

Eligible host institutions include

  • universities
  • public and private non-profit research organisations
  • public or private research hospitals, hospital trusts and university hospital trusts

with active operational offices in either Piedmont or Liguria.

The maximum duration of the project is 24 months. At the end of the research project researchers will have the opportunity to carry out a 3-month period of non-academic placement at start-ups and innovative companies in the Turin innovation ecosystem.

Applicants to the 2023 Postdoctoral Fellowships call can also  apply, even if they do not have a MSCA Seal of Excellence at the time of the call results announcement. They will have to submit the certificate at a later stage of the application process.

About the MSCA Seal of Excellence

The MSCA Seal of Excellence is a quality label awarded to applicants of Postdoctoral Fellowships and COFUND who achieved a high score in their applications (85% or more) but unfortunately were not awarded funding due to budgetary constraints.

The MSCA Seal of Excellence

  • underlines the value of these projects, which may use it to help find alternative funding
  • allows other funding bodies such as national, regional, and university-level schemes to support MSCA proposals holding the label and take advantage of the Horizon Europe evaluation process
