MSCA IF: €328 million researchers' grants awarded
The recipients of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowships (IF) grants have been announced by the European Commission.
With finance totalling €328 million, the EU will support 1,630 experienced post-doctoral researchers working at top universities and research organisations in Europe and the rest of the world, as well as in the private sector and SMEs.
Research projects
Characterised by a "bottom-up" approach, the programme allows researchers to work on projects in all research fields while receiving training and supervision to enhance their skills and boost their careers. The Fellows supported will work on research projects that tackle global challenges such as climate change, health and migration, as well as on areas relevant to the EU missions in Horizon Europe including cancer, smart cities and healthy soils and oceans.
An additional 46 Fellowships will go to excellent researchers in European countries that currently are under-represented in the MSCA. The Widening Fellowships pilot has successfully encouraged increased participation from these countries.
The MSCA IF action supports excellent postdoctoral fellows from Europe and beyond through international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility, and is an essential part of the European Research Area.
Horizon Europe
This call is the final one under Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
Under its successor, Horizon Europe, the €95.5 billion research and innovation programme for the period 2021-2027, MSCA will continue to support postdoctoral fellows through the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships action.
