New MSCA Seal of Excellence scheme by Sorbonne university kicks off in France
The Sorbonne University has started an initiative to fund projects that have been awarded a MSCA Seal of Excellence.

The French Sorbonne University opened a new call under the Seal of Excellence 2025 - Sorbonne Université funding scheme.
This call will support researchers with projects that have been awarded the MSCA Seal of Excellence under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) 2024 Postdoctoral Fellowships call, and whose proposals have been evaluated with a score of at least 85%, but failed to be funded due to budget constraints.
About the call
The programme includes a salary and a lump-sum for research costs for two years, similar to the MSCA projects.
Selected fellows will be offered a contract at Sorbonne Université (either a postdoctoral or a research contract depending on their experience) for a period of 24 months.
How to apply
Only projects submitted with a supervisor in one of Sorbonne Université's research units are eligible.
Each applicant is invited to apply online through their supervisor by sending the full application before 14 April, 17.00 CEST to msca-pf@sorbonne-universite.fr.
The list of successful projects will be announced in May 2025.
About the MSCA Seal of Excellence
The MSCA Seal of Excellence is a quality label awarded to applicants under Postdoctoral Fellowships and COFUND who achieved a high score in their applications (85% or higher) but unfortunately were not awarded funding due to budgetary constraints.
The MSCA Seal of Excellence
- underlines the value of these projects and aims to support applicants in securing alternative funding
- allows other funding bodies such as national, regional, and local authorities, public and private institutions to support MSCA proposals that have been awarded the Seal of Excellence and to take advantage of the Horizon Europe evaluation process.
