Researchers at Schools: researchers meet children to show the wonders of science

The European Commission is announcing a new flagship initiative called “Researchers at Schools”, which will foster direct interaction between researchers, teachers and pupils.

These exchanges will

  • allow participants to better grasp the challenges faced by our societies
  • broaden access to science, technology, arts and mathematics (STEAM) and research activities for all

In the next two years, “Researchers at Schools” will reach more than 2 400 primary and secondary schools and involve more than 224 000 pupils across 26 EU Member States and countries associated to Horizon Europe.

The initiative is part of the European Year of Youth and is funded under the EU’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie action MSCA & Citizens.

It will create unique occasions to show in practice how European research is vital for our future and welfare, as well as the role it plays on topics such as

  • combating climate change
  • achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
  • promoting healthier environment and lifestyles for European citizens

Teachers: participate with your pupils

“Researchers at Schools” will bring the wonders of science directly to your classroom.

Amazing researchers will show their work to your pupils through presentations, hands-on experiments, visits to labs, games, discussions and role-playing.

Find out which activities take place in your country and consult the organisers’ websites for more information on how to participate.
