MSCA COFUND receives record number of proposals

Co-funding of Regional, National and International Programmes (COFUND) aims to stimulate fellowship programmes, fostering excellence in researchers' training, mobility and career development.  COFUND thereby highlights and expands best practices of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - while providing organisations with financial support for their doctoral or fellowship programmes.

157 proposals were submitted under the last call of the scheme under Horizon 2020, which closed on 29 September at 17:00.  This figure represents an increase of 18% compared to last year’s call. 56% of this year’s proposals (88) were for Fellowship Programmes, with 44% of proposals (69) for Doctoral Programmes.

Most proposals were submitted by organisations from

  • Spain (30)
  • France (22)
  • Italy (12)
  • Germany (11)
  • Turkey (9)
  • Switzerland (9)
  • Ireland (8)

The total budget requested was approximately €375 million. Around €100 million are available under this call to fund researchers’ mobility in all areas of science.
