Opportunities in common between Erasmus + and MSCA highlighted

The European Commission has published a new note about the links between the MSCA and Erasmus+. The aim is to improve awareness about the additional opportunities Erasmus + presents to people working in the higher education sector.
Around 70 percent of beneficiaries under the MSCA are higher education institutions. They therefore have access to other EU funding targeting the higher education sector, such as Erasmus+.

University staff and faculties who are dealing with the MSCA may not always be aware of the opportunities available under Erasmus+, and vice versa. The report encourages people to explore any possible synergies and complementarities between MSCA and Erasmus +. The document also provides a number of best-practice examples of these benefits being used.

Common goals

Opportunities for the mobility, training and career development of individuals, including researchers are key features of both Erasmus+ and the MSCA. They each fund the development of new study and research programmes (including joint programmes). MSCA and Erasmus + both contribute to the establishment of collaborative projects which can include staff exchanges.

International dimensions

With their strong international dimensions, Erasmus + and MSCA both reach out beyond the EU. This aspect is used to develop internationalisation strategies. It also strengthens the attractiveness of Europe as a destination for study and research. 
While they both foster cooperation between higher education institutions, they also reach beyond academia to involve organisations such as SMEs from non-academic sectors.
