La station scientifique belge Princesse Élisabeth est située en Antarctique, à 1400m d’altitude.

Là-bas, la température extérieure peut atteindre -50°C. Effectuer des recherches dans ces conditions extrêmes nécessite une préparation méticuleuse et une coordination parfaite au sein de l’équipe.

Aide les scientifiques à faire les bons choix et à mener à bien leur mission: reconstituer l’évolution du climat sur 800 000 ans grâce aux molécules d’eau et aux gaz piégés dans la glace.

In this short show, I will tell a story. The story of Aracne, a crabby tarantula that by accident ends up in the garage of a house. Here, she meets two wonderful kids (Linus and Hanna) and together they embark on a journey to discover the amazing world of spiders.

Do you think spiders are disgusting? You should touch a spider exoskeleton and feel its softness and, do not worry, the kids will too. Do you think spiders are stupid small creatures with nothing to teach us?

You should see how they use their silk to make traps to snare prey thousands of times heavier than them and, do not worry, kids will too. How can spiders not drown when submerged in water? Is it because they have a special suit that surrounds them? All these questions and more will be promptly answered during the show, making the kids experience them at first hand. 

I have a great responsibility, Aracne sent me on a quest and I cannot fail her! I have to share these amazing facts, and show the kids (but also the teachers) how spiders can teach us to build swimming suits, and strong ropes and, at the same time, respect the world we live in. Will you join me?

What is real and what is fiction? This science show offers you a chance to explore how animation shapes our understanding of “invisible” science. For example, if you imagine an atom, what does it look like to you? What does it look like in reality? And why do we imagine it to look like a small planetary system?

Join us as we watch excerpts from classic animated documentaries, go on a hunt for a popular science book of 1922 and make the connection between our imagination and the representations of the Solar System from Copernicus, Dante Alighieri and Aristotles.

Be ready to ask questions and share your observations so that we can explore together what happens at the interface between “reality” and animation, and how animation in popular science does tell a “truth” about reality, but, at the same time, it is also the result of a fascinating compromise between artists and scientists.

Hoe leg je tieners en jonge kinderen de voordelen van geavanceerde technologie uit? 
Tijdens grootschalige vaccinatiecampagnes worden kinderen op jonge leeftijd al geconfronteerd met scherpe naalden. 

Beginnend met open vragen aan de kinderen over hun ervaringen met injecties met naalden, duiken we in de voordelen van naaldloze procedures.

Daarna doen we een paar interactieve spelletjes, waarbij we gebruik maken van prototypes, coole video's en afbeeldingen. 

Join us as we unveil a simulated archaeological discovery that will lead us to a crime-solving case. In our science show, two scientists (one speaking French, the other English) will have to solve an ancient crime by applying the scientific method.

But they will need your help! Can you help put the puzzle pieces together, run experiments and solve the crime? Become real archaeological detectives and discover how archaeology uses biomedical and forensic information to unravel past crimes.

L'océan est chauffé à l'équateur et refroidi aux pôles. Cela crée des différences de densité qui entraînent la circulation océanique mondiale. Les courants transfèrent la chaleur de l'équateur aux pôles, régulent le climat et apportent de la nourriture et de la vie dans les profondeurs de l'océan.

Nous utiliserons plusieurs expériences interactives pour démontrer tout cela aux enfants.

Ken je het Zoniënwoud al? Dat is een héél groot woud dat net buiten Brussel ligt. Het is een waardevol Natura 2000-gebied met veel grote oude bomen en zeldzame planten, maar er leven ook prachtige vogels, amfibieën en zoogdieren zoals reeën en everzwijnen.

Ontdek hoe je dankzij enkele eenvoudige ‘goede gewoontes’ zelf het bos en haar flora en fauna kan beschermen tijdens jouw volgende bezoek.

Nadat we je verteld hebben over de bescherming van het Zoniënwoud, doen we een kleine quiz om te checken of je klaar bent om bosbeschermer te worden!

Paper is white - it's obvious, isn't it? How about clouds on a sunny day? Or snow? What about table salt?

We think about all of these object as white, but we hardly ever think: why?

The colour of the object is a result of the way it interacts with light, however, the nature of this interaction may be more complex than you may think! Is white always... well white?

Same can be said about any other colour: does everyone always see colours the same way? Can objects hide secret colours? Colours can get messy and may trick your brain.

So does paper - unlike clouds or snow, paper only tricks your brain to look white!

Have you ever wondered why the largest crisps are at the top of a freshly opened bag and the smallest ones at the bottom? Why can you build a sandcastle on the beach but not in the Sahara?

Those two questions are related to the behaviour of particles. They are everywhere in our daily life, no matter if we look at snacks like smarties or rocks in nature.

Come to our show and learn about the physics of particles that can answer those questions.
