The Annual European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference is Europe's most comprehensive international higher education event, gathering over 6,000 professionals from all over the globe.

This year’s conference and exhibition, “En Route!”, was taking place in Toulouse from 17 to 20 September 2024. The conference gathered higher education practitioners and academics engaged in and committed to strengthening international cooperation through projects, partnerships, research, peer learning and exchange of good practice.

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) was present at the conference both at the EAIE Exhibition and as part of the conference programme. DG EAC organised or spoke in more than 10 sessions, covering a range of topics on Erasmus+, MSCA and international cooperation.

This year, DG EAC had two special features.

  • Our Director-General Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen participated in the ministerial roundtable The Politics and policies of internationalisation: ministers’ views on Wednesday, 17 September at 15.30.

The session offered an opportunity to share EAC’s vision on the future of international cooperation at European and global level.

  • Amidst the ongoing discussions on the future generation of EU programmes, EAIE will support DG EAC in organising a dedicated consultation session with the EAIE community. The future of EU programmes: Your voice counts! workshop will gather around 100 stakeholders to discuss the next generation of education, training and research programmes managed by DG EAC.

The workshop took place on Thursday, 19 September at 11.30.
