Call for proposals – Take part in Science is Wonderful! 2025

Are you a MSCA fellow or alumni passionate about your work? Ready to share it with the world?

We have the best audience queuing up to see you: thousands of primary and secondary school pupils from across Belgium will be traveling to Brussels in March 2025 to visit our Science is Wonderful! science fair.

We will pull them into the world of research through live experiments, games and any innovative format you can think of. Be prepared for younger and older pupils, for English, Dutchand French-speaking pupils, and for lots of unexpected questions.

Are you ready for this ultimate science communication challenge?

What's in it for you?

In addition to offering boundless glory, we will help you get everything you need to present your work. We will also cover travel and accommodation costs for you and two team members. And after taking part in this event, you will be able to explain your research to a-n-y-o-n-e.

So, what are you waiting for?

What happens next?

A jury will select the best 43 projects. The results will be announced on 7 November 2024.

All selected researchers and their teams will be invited to an online communication workshop on 4 December 2024.

Please note that only MSCA fellows or alumni can apply as lead researchers.

They can recruit non-MSCA researchers to be in their team though. Technicians, supervisors, students, senior researchers, colleagues, ... anyone that will join us in making science wonderful.

Science is Wonderful! in a nutshell

Science is Wonderful! is an annual science fair organised by the European Commission.

It celebrates EU-funded research by inviting leading researchers from all over the world to come to Brussels and engage and inspire the next generation of scientists.

Attracting over 4000 pupils from across Belgium each year, this two-day event has become a science outreach institution, free and open to all.

Take a look at the last edition!

On 25 and 26 April 2024, more than 120 researchers and various Commission departments explained their work to more than 4 800 pupils from all over Belgium, attracting French-speaking, Dutch-speaking and international schools.

All year round activities

Next to the science fair, Science is Wonderful! also hosts activities for the classroom. These teaching resources, games and videos were prepared by our scientists to use with your pupils or children throughout the year.

Did you already help the Lost Astronomer find his way home? Did you help detectives analyse blood samples in CSI Marie Curie? You can also unleash your inner cellular biologist to Escape the bio-lab

All of these games have been co-created by teachers and MSCA scientists and are available in all EU languages. So why not learn something new and have fun at the same time?

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions

Science is Wonderful! is an initiative of European Union’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), the reference programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training. This allows excellent young researchers across the EU and abroad to study a topic in depth that they care about.

Science is Wonderful! bridges this research with schools across the European Union. It celebrates the value and impact of EU-funded research by giving primary and secondary school students the chance to interact with leading researchers and innovators, learn more about their work in engaging formats and ask questions about scientific careers. Since its inception in 2015, Science is Wonderful! has organised an annual science fair that interactively showcases research projects and innovations through presentations, hands-on experiments, games and quizzes.

The MSCA also support the European Researchers’ Night, a popular science outreach event organised annually in several European countries and beyond, and Researchers at Schools, which fosters direct interaction between researchers, teachers and pupils.
