European Researchers’ Night celebrating science across Europe in 2024 and 2025

The European Researchers’ Night and Researchers at School offer a glimpse into the fascinating world of science.

Want more science in your life? We have got you covered! This page will show you all the European Researchers’ Night projects taking place in 2024 and 2025.

It’s your chance to see what happens behind the scenes of major universities and research institutes.

One night is not enough? You are right!

Take a look at the Researchers at Schools initiatives, which enable students to visit labs, go on field trips or take part in summer schools all year round.

European Researchers’ Night

Come join us on 27 September 2024 to celebrate science across Europe. The European Researchers’ Night is the largest science outreach event in Europe. In 2024 and 2025, 58 projects will run events in 25 countries.

Universities and research institutes across Europe will open their doors and share their work through presentations, experiments, games, discussions and other interactive formats. It’s your chance to go behind the scenes, meet researchers from your area and discover how the seemingly abstract world of science is already affecting your everyday life.

The European Researchers’ Night

  • brings research and researchers closer to the public, attracting over 1.5 million visitors across Europe and beyond each year
  • promotes excellent research projects across Europe and beyond
  • increases the interest of young people in science and research careers
  • shows how researchers’ work affects our daily lives

Are you a fan of science?

You can meet researchers from your area. Explore below the map below to find events and meetups taking place near you. Discover the fascinating world of science in a fun and interactive way – with family, friends, colleagues or on your own.

All events are completely free and open to the public.

Get ready to learn more about research, science and innovation through a wide range of science shows, hands-on experiments, games, quizzes, competitions, exhibitions and digital activities. Simply visit the website of the project of your choice for full programmes and to plan your visit.

Are you a researcher?

Are you a MSCA fellow or alumnus reading this with excitement? Then why not support a project near you!

The European Researchers' Night is a unique opportunity for you to meet and engage with people of all ages. Find an innovative and intuitive way to present your research to a wide audience. Raise awareness of your research and its impact on society. Put your outreach skills into practice. Meet fellow dedicated researchers, big and small fans. And have fun!

We will be happy to put you in touch with the local organisers.

Researchers at Schools

Since 2022, there is a new format in town! Researchers at Schools brings leading scientists into the classroom and pupils to the lab. It complements the European Researchers’ Night and is run by the same organisers. The difference is that the activities take place throughout the year. They are specifically aimed at little researchers-to-be.

Researchers at Schools projects

  • take place throughout the year and across Europe
  • give primary and secondary school pupils a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science – and become part it
  • develop pupils’ STEAM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and demonstrate first hand how what they learn at school is relevant to solving problems in later life
  • raise awareness of the challenges facing our societies today and the role of science in addressing them
  • have reached over 320, 000 pupils in 2022 and 2023

Are you a teacher or educator?

Then have a look at the activities that take place near you in the map below.

Get ready to

  • spend a night at the planetarium
  • rent a scientist for your classroom
  • go on bike trails with researchers on wheels
  • take part in a summer school
  • contribute to a research project with your class
  • register for one of the many other engaging activities for your class

Simply consult the organisers’ websites for additional information on how to participate.

No activities near you? That’s a pity!

All projects listed in the map take place in 2024 and 2025.

We hope to offer even more activities in 2026 and 2027, so stay tuned!

Are you a researcher?

Are you a MSCA fellow or alumnus who is ready to inspire the next generation of researchers? Then why not support a project near you!

Researchers at Schools is a fantastic opportunity to connect with students of all ages. Explain your research while riding a bike. Host a class in your lab or on a research vessel. Visit a school or a summer camp.

Whatever you do, get ready to share your knowledge and passion while having fun with young fans of science. If you can explain your research to a classroom of children, you can explain your research to anyone!

Does this sound interesting?
